Dental Anxiety

Visiting a dentist can be a very daunting experience for many. Our dentists understand and empathize with your fears. We have designed our surgery to create a calming ambience to ensure that you are safe and comfortable. We will address all your questions and clarify the procedures we use. This will greatly ease your mind and enable you to accept that a visit to the dentist does not have to be traumatizing.

To block out unwanted sounds, our surgery features iPod docking devices so you can play your favourite music. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own MP3 player and use your own earplugs during treatment. You can also choose from our DVD collection or bring your favourite to play on our ceiling-mounted screens to keep you entertained during your appointment.

Pain free dentistry is further possible with various sedation options you may elect during your appointment.

Sedation for Dentistry

Relative Analgesia/Nitrous Oxide: Patients may choose to have their dental treatment carried out under nitrous oxide (happy gas). This is suitable and most popular with patients who require minimal work, who have strong gag reflexes or are needle phobic. Patients can drive after the appointment and do not require a chaperone.

Intravenous Sedation: Dental treatment is carried out at the surgery with a qualified and accredited anaesthetist, Dr Stephen Han, where anti-anxiety drugs are administered during the procedure. This enables the patient to be relaxed to carry out the necessary work. It allows for quick recovery so you can resume to your everyday activities.

General Anaesthetics: Our dentists and anaesthetist are accredited with Sydney Day Hospital (located on Macquarie Street in the CBD) where we can perform dental treatment whilst the patient is unconscious. This setting is most suitable for young children requiring extensive dental work or removal of multiple impacted wisdom teeth.
